Shrove Tuesday
The day before Ash Wednesday is typically referred to as Shrove Tuesday, and it was a day to shriven off sins (confess and cast them off and receive absolution). Since fasting has traditionally been a part of Lent, this pancake dinner feast was originally because families needed to use up their fat butter and sugar preventing it from being wasted.
As we celebrate this old tradition anew this year, let us enjoy our feast together and delight in the truth of our forgiveness. We will also begin to lean into the truths of Christ’s passion and sacrifice explored during this season of Lent.
Let’s feast together, play together, confess together, and receive resources to dive into God’s word together from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on February 13th.
There will be a “best pancake” competition! Memorial will provide a toppings bar, plain & chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and sausage links. Families are encouraged to RSVP to attend and sign up for the competition by clicking on the link here. There will be some fun pancake games, and some Lenten resources available for your family to take home. We look forward to feasting with you!
