The visions and dreams of scripture are enchanted with Imagery. Symbolism. Allegory. Foreshadowing. These wild writings enchant our world and imagination. They can set the heart ablaze to the Truth of God and His gracious work for His creation. Yet in a secular age we have become disenchanted with the world around us. Angels? Demons? Prophecy? A Bigger Battle that can’t be seen? A Creator’s purposes revealed in mysterious experiences?
We’ve grown weary and leery to such things. Yet, the dreams and visions of scripture invite the imagination to be enchanted with the Word once more. God is on the move; the battle is real; the dreams and visions of God’s people from the past bring us into an enchanted world today. God will use mysterious means (Word, Sacraments, Spirit) to set our imaginations on His revealed work in His world. For the dreams and visions of scripture bring us to Jesus who enchants our lives with His Grace, Presence, Power, and Purposes. So let us discover His Word at work in the dreams and visions of scripture together and be enchanted once more.
